Bexley Pubs by Jim Packer Publisher's Synopsis
This guide takes a look at the history of pubs all over Bexley, most of which still exist today. Details include an interesting selection of black & white photographs and amusing anecdotes. The author states that the book originated one day as a discussion about how many pubs could be recalled (87) and how many had actually been sampled (78)!
Although currently not in print, the book is available from the Bexley Local Studies and Archive Centre or from second hand bookshops. By the same author is the follow-up work featuring the 'Lost Pubs of Bexley'.

Website Review
Written by a regular contributor to this website, this excellently researched reference work tells for the first time the story of all the pubs that existed in the London Borough of Bexley at the time of writing in 1995. Every pub mentioned is illustrated by a unique photograph, many of which have never been published before. All the existing pubs that were owned or tenanted by Reffells Bexley Brewery Ltd. are included. This book is recommended to all those who have an interest in the London Borough of Bexley, those interested in the social history of the times and (of course) Reffell Brewery researchers!
